Using the NetDbos Transcription Software
 ========================================

Identify a Patient number from (PDR) function or register a new patient at (REG) function. Then enter function name (TRNC) on the NetDbos client "Next Request" field and Press [Enter]. Microsoft Word will start automatically and the "NFRE - NetDbos Transcription" macro will run.  "If you have a pup up window request of selecting Disable or Enable Macros pups up, please Enable it."   An input window will appear requesting a Case # to identify a patient and a drop down list of available procedures will be displayed.  Use the mouse pointer to highlight a procedure and then click on the [OK] button. The Alternate Case # can also be used to identify the patient.

Word will display all of the Patient Demographics allowing text to be added to the document below the patient's demographics.

When all of the text has been keyed in, press "Alt-V". This will save the text as a Word Document and also will update the patient medical record with the verified transcription. Verified  transcription can be viewed by your browser at the http://www.netdbos.com/livedemo.

If "Alt-S" is used however, this will save the text as a Word Document and also will update the patient medical record with the transcription. The data will remain as a non-verified record until such time that an authorized professional can verify it.  Until verification, the transcription can be edited from any NetDbos station, anywhere in the world, by authorized personnel.

At this point, the main screen will redisplay and the user can key in the next Transcription or can end the Word session by clicking the 'Cancel' button.

In addition to "TRNC", there are two more transcription functions.  Function name "TRN2" allows the abbreviation for the Transcription Type to be keyed in rather than picking it from a list (in the demo try using Sample Code "2010" for X-ray of the left foot). Function name "TRN3" may be used to transcribe a pre-ordered request such as a Radiology or Pathology order by keying the order or request number in the Request # field.
